Fireworks Safety

Fireworks are fun for both kids and adults, but if you don’t follow safety measures this fun activity can turn dangerous quick! By following these safety recommendations, you and your family and friends are sure to have a great time celebrating.

Tip 1

Always have an adult supervise fireworks activities.

Tip 2

Back up to a safe distance immediately after lighting fireworks.

Tip 3

Never point or throw fireworks at another person.

Tip 4

Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy in case of fire and to douse used fireworks before discarding in trash.

Tip 5

Never allow young children to play or ignite fireworks.

Tip 6

Never carry fireworks in a pocket or shoot them off in metal or glass containers.

Tip 7

Never try to re-light or pickup fireworks that have not ignited fully.

Tip 8

Never place a part of your body directly over a firework device when lighting.

Don’t smoke or be intoxicated (drink) when igniting fireworks
